Maarjamäe Palace along the Pirita promenade is home to a large-scale exhibition devoted to the Republic of Estonia. It tells the story of the birth, development, occupation and second independence of the republic. A variety of objects, documents and stories highlight Estonians' desire for freedom and self-determination throughout the 20th century.
Estonian History Museum at the Maarjamäe Palace is also home to Estonian Film Museum. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Estonian Film, pop-up museum with an exhibition "Here We Are" was created. Visitors can learn the history through the film production process and hear interviews with directors or famous songs from Estonian films.
The museum’s courtyard is full of Soviet era demounted monuments offering different kind of view to art.
